2015 RYA Instructor of the YearRYA Instruction of the Year 2015

At the proteges RYA Awards for 2015 held in the palatial surroundings of The Belfast Harbour Commissioners Office on Friday 27th November CYC member James Campbell was awarded the honour of being chosen as RYA Instructor of the Year.

Sheila Lewis, RYA Northern Ireland Chairperson said:- “Instructor of the year goes to James Campbell from Coleraine Yacht Club. He has been invaluable to his Club over the last number of years providing leadership in his 2 years as Junior Commodore and has led a successful campaign at his school Coleraine Academical Institution (now Coleraine Grammar School) to have sailing added to the list of supported sports at the school. As an RYA Dinghy Instructor,Race coach and RYA Senior Instructor James’s passion for the sport shines through. James ran CYC’s range of courses in summer 2015 introducing 72 young people to sailing. He has coached junior sailors in the Club for several seasons gaining success for many of them. One of his proteges TC Baxter-Mulvenna is now a top sailor in the Ulster Topper squad. James is also an accomplished sailor being Ulster Standard Laser Champion in 2014.”
